First Analysis on Well Being

WELL BEING

In today’s time people are looking for a healthy body, mind and soul. Well being holds prime priority in most of our lives. Around the world various issues and trends such as self medication, hypertension, virtual relationships (e.g. phone a friend, help lines), adoption of eastern philosophy and sciences (yoga, auyurveda, etc.) can be observed.

In India we can look up at several of the local manifestations which have been influencing the global trends as well as being affected by them. The healing techniques of auyurveda, yoga etc. are being commercialized in the west and marketed as pills to take care of tension, headaches etc. Furthermore, in our culture, young ones grow under a religious umbrella and since a young age imbibe in themselves the god fearing attitude, hence, more people have a peace of mind. Also because of a pagan culture we believe ‘natural’ to be good for us (e.g. herbal toothpastes). Use of pay toilets has increased due to increased media awareness through ‘public service ads.’ because of which hygiene, and sanitation issues have been looked upon. Also, since old times we have had a money lending system, which has been transformed into a trustworthy insurance link, which while giving a sense of security increases the our states of well being.

On the overall, people in today’s time, across economic divides and cultural barriers are increasingly depending upon technology to provide support for different aspects of well being. Whereas we think that the limits of technology should be defined and only then products be produced.
